The Albatross and the Waves was inspired by an outcrop of rocks on Parsons. This day was blustery with spots of rain and threatening clouds.
These rocks were covered in the most vibrant green moss, contrasting against the rough spiky rocks and wild blue ocean.
I fell quite a way behind the rest of the group trying to capture this Albatross loving every second of the weather. I managed to capture it as it stretched its wings and flew off.
Layers of oil paint are piled on to create the mossy rocks and the messy waves have been applied with a palette knife. The sky is threatening in the background, but blended and soft.
I hope you enjoy this one and it reminds you of wild beach days!
The Albatross and the Waves is available as the original 25x30cm artwork, or as an A4 print.
