7 steps – How to Commission a Custom Artwork

Ordering a custom painting is a simple and straightforward process. Here are the seven steps to follow to commission a custom artwork:

  1. Contact Jen Biscoe and provide a clear photo that you would like turned into an original oil painting. Digital photos are preferred.
  2. If the photo is suitable, discuss the size of the painting with the Jen. If you have a fuzzy or low-quality photo, it may not be possible to create a large canvas due to a lack of detail.
  3. Jen will then send you a sketch or edited version of the photo for final approval.
  4. At this stage, you will be required to make a deposit of $100 to cover initial costs and secure the commission.
  5. It will take 3-5 weeks to complete your custom artwork. You will be sent progress photos towards the end of the process for feedback and final approval.
  6. Make the final payment and your artwork will be shipped to you free of charge via courier or Australia Post.
  7. When you receive your painting, be prepared to be moved by its beauty and personal significance. Custom paintings are highly personal gifts that often evoke some strong emotions!

I’m lucky to own 3 of Jen’s pieces. Two beach scenes which I absolutely love. One is Castletown beach which I walk on often with my dog. It just brings joy to me when I see it. Jen also painted my daughter’s portrait from a photo when she was 1. She captured her perfectly. I’ve been following here socials and am impressed by her florals too. Also recommended her to many people who pop into the Cannery Arts Centre where I work. Photo not great as it is 120cm long and I took photo at night.

Jen beautifully recreated a large seascape for us, as commissioned for our home in Port Elliot. Jen has captured the colors and elements of Horseshoe Bay, portraying a real life quality within the coastal artwork. Our painting is much loved by us and commented upon by those who visit as it is prominently on display. Thank you Jen for our wonderful piece of artwork.

Rockpool Commission...

I commissioned Jen Biscoe to do a painting for me, after being astounded and impressed at seeing another of her paintings, hanging on the wall at a friend’s house. The brief I gave her, was to paint a local rockpool, which is a place of significance to my family. Before commencing the painting, Jen visited the rockpool, took photos, and wanted to know any specific details I wished to have included. The end result is amazing. It captures many happy memories for our family. I was so impressed I then asked Jen to do a triptych of Encounter Bay. Again, I could not be more thrilled with the painting. Both pieces of art are talking points for any visitor to our home. Jen’s attention to detail is exceptional. If you are thinking about buying a painting by Jen Biscoe, rest assured you will not be disappointed, and her artwork will be admired and cherished for generations.
